Of different shapes and sizes
Not body or math related, but families! They come in different shapes and sizes, and to keep up with reality, they come in different formats too. Historically since families were part of larger civilizations, it made sense to keep them together, keep things together and keep things within themselves. But civilizations move, grow and evolve and we all did!
Families did shrink a few sizes, change shape to accommodate altered cultural and social influences and adopt people outside the circle into it's framework! So guess lot of the governing rules of the family bond and drivers needs revision too. From families being blood related in layers of branches to nuclear, from those extended by default to those that were inherited, the family structure and definition has given room to unconventional ones that begin to add more sense and flavor to existence. These are the ones we choose, be it extended or inherited, the moment we choose, there's the buy in. These are families we form within friends circles, social groups we get along individually and as families, work setups and other ones that though start out as ones for convenience, turn out to be a blessing - for example, fellow school moms and dads that you get to chit chat with while watching kids can sometimes be the breath of fresh air!
So when the whole definition of family has changed, who am I to hold the sacred pact of “it all stays within the family” and face the mental turmoil it brings. With age and wisdom, and the ability to watch out for oneself, isn't it reasonable to address familial woes externally too? Each one comes in different shapes and sizes, but human problems being looked from third set of human eyes probably is what could help get out of the trap and loop!
To each their own. I love all my families that mean the universe to me. If one planet were to loose it's wings, I'll take another one's help to fix it and me, rather than let us both wither into darkness alone! While this keeps me going, I really hope that my blood related ones don't read this post!
